Aug 16, 2025

BERKELEY – Veterans Boulevard was closed for a few hours on Saturday, Aug. 16, after a 30-foot U.S. Postal Service box truck struck multiple parked vehicles before it overturned in a neighboring driveway.

Early Saturday morning, at approximately 5:35 a.m. Berkeley Township police officers responded to the 300 block of Veterans Boulevard after reports of a motor vehicle crash involving multiple vehicles and an overturned mail truck. The preliminary police investigation revealed that the mail truck was traveling east on Veterans Boulevard before the driver hit a parked vehicle that was located at 371 Veterans Blvd. near the shoulder of the roadway. After striking the parked vehicle, the box truck skid over 200-feet while veering right and into the neighboring property of 369 Veterans Blvd.

The truck then drove onto the front lawn of 369 Veterans Blvd., where it struck two vehicles parked in the driveway, pushing those vehicles into another vehicle that was parked in the driveway of 363 Veterans Blvd.

The truck then overturned onto its left side, according to the police.

Both properties had property damage as a result, but no structural damage was reported to any of the residences, according to the police.

The driver had lacerations to his whole body, a complaint of pain in his hand, and said he hit his head but did not lose consciousness.

Berkeley Township EMS transported the driver to Community Medical Center in Toms River.

Veterans Boulevard was closed in both directions for three hours while the investigation was being completed.
